Mercedes-Benz Japan Co., Ltd. (President: Nicholas Speeks; Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo) introduces a new model of the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class, a four-door concept that offers a unique combination of elegant and sporty body styling reminiscent of a coupé with the comfort and practicality of a sedan. The new CLS-Class is the first fully restyled model to appear in the Mercedes four-door coupé series after a hiatus of six years. The new CLS 350 BlueEFFICIENCY is powered by a newly developed 3.5-liter V6 engine with direct injection, while the CLS 63 AMG is a high-performance model driven by a new AMG 5.5-liter V8 powerplant with direct injection. Beginning, both models are available through the nationwide network of authorized Mercedes-Benz dealerships. The delivery of the new CLS-Class will start in June.
Launched in 2004, the first generation of the CLS combined basic Mercedes values (performance, safety, and comfort) with a strongly emotional design that focused on “beauty and fascination.” As such, the four-door coupé found favor with many drivers who were sensitive to trends and craved for refined lifestyle. At the same time, it created a completely new vehicle category of “four-door coupés”, exercising a great impact on other automotive brands.
